DWELLING INSURANCE:
Most people are familiar with house insurance coverage, but they may not know about another, less expensive type of insurance coverage called "dwelling insurance coverage." A renters insurance coverage coverage policy only covers the house, it doesn't cover any surrounding house, but it does cover other buildings, such as garages. It doesn't cover items inside the building, however.
Types of Dwelling Insurance
There are several types of house insurance coverage that can be used to protect a building in specific circumstances. Some companies call their insurance coverage landlord's house insurance coverage. This protects the landlord for damages that might occur, and protects from loss of income while the house site vacant while it's being repaired. Another type of house insurance coverage covers vacant households. In both these cases, there are no possessions inside the house that belong to the landlord, so traditional house insurance coverage isn't necessary. A renters insurance coverage coverage is extremely popular with people who have second households.
No Personal Liability Insurance
Unlike most house policies, most house insurance coverage doesn't cover losses due to personal or medical liability, either. That means if someone is hurt on the house, and they sue you, your court costs and their medical costs aren't covered. For many homeowners, this isn't a problem, but if a lot of people visit the house on a regular basis, traditional house insurance coverage might be a better choice for you.
Dwelling insurance coverage might not work for everyone, but it can be a good idea for house with two households, investment house, or house that needs repairs. If the house isn't in good condition, your homeowner rates could be higher than the house is worth. If you use house insurance coverage to cover the house, you could save money, and after the house is repaired and its' value is restored, you could switch back to house insurance coverage to make sure the house is fully covered. Dwelling insurance coverage saves money, and it may help you insure a house that you might not insure, otherwise.
